Day #76: Window Boards & Bath Installations Started

Maanantaina 30. marraskuuta 2009 · Marius

terve, today our installation expert peter started with the bath installation. he and his staff placed carefully the tubes within sauna, bathroom and technik room. i’ve been surprised how fast peter and his collegue proceeded. as i had been ill, i only dropped in for seconds on this evening as i was on a rush back home.

i also noticed that folks of fa. klöpper did finish window boards on the northern side. they rescued a bid a bug we had. i think it looks brilliant. i was very impressed. good job. please see the pics and let us know whether you like it or not.

Day #75: OSB-plates in living, kids & hobby room

Sunnuntaina 29. marraskuuta 2009 · Marius

moi, i spent only a couple of hours on the site today. today’s objective was to place all osb-plates on those areas where it was possible. i first had to continue installing more 45×45 mm battens. as you can see on the pic the chimney also needs some support and so it get’s some additional battens. to ensure low volumes we hided the compressor below several packages of STEICO canaflex… which reduced the noise significantly. ;-)

i did also place windshield paper within the bathroom and sauna area as the staff will start working there tomorrow installing waste water tubes etc. … honestly i have to say installing this windshield foil is really a pain. i’m so happy once that is finished - hopefully soon.

Day #74: Start Of OSB-Plate Installation

Lauantaina 28. marraskuuta 2009 · Marius

terve, today i started installing 45×45 mm battens in the two smaller rooms (kids room & hobby room). once i got the battens installed properly, i continued with 22mm osb-plates on top of the battens. so in total floor did raise for about 67 mm. the osb-plates needed to be cut from time to time to fit within certain corners. what’s important here is to keep roundabout 1 cm distance off the exterior walls. this needs to be done as wood is a natural material which still needs some space to work. one pic has been done during early afternoon, next pic had been done in the evening.

Day #73: Battens In Kids Room

Perjantaina 27. marraskuuta 2009 · Marius

yo, today focus had been on preparing installation of balustrade. as i finally can get rid of the framework this tuesday folks of fa. klöpper need to speed up finalizing window sills. before i could install battens the isolation needed a quick adjustment, as there was still some space left towards the wall.

Day #72: Mitsubishi

Perjantaina 27. marraskuuta 2009 · Marius

terve, yesterday jochen arranged detail planning with heating experts of MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC HEATING. folks will provide our heating system, which will be one of their state-of-the-art latest Ecodan warmth pumps. i will write more details about this once heating will be installed so that you can see things in detail. but what i wanted to say is: japanese vendors seem to have much more expertise regarding warmth pumps than classic german vendors. once we talked to staff people quickly had been convinced (yes, we still had been very critical!) that the Ecodan system will the right choice. we first saw the technology once in finland and what’s special about it is, that you won’t need any electric heating assistance up to minus 15 degrees. this outperforms all other german vendors, where electrissity bill will explode.

Day #71: Attika Finished & Start Of Running Floor Battens

Keskiviikkona 25. marraskuuta 2009 · Marius

terve, today in the morning i finished the very last small pieces of main living room isolation … by midday i started to move isolation packages to get the living room free, so that i could start with the floor battens. oh, the roofer did also end is attika job this morning. so … to do the battens jochen organized a senco nailing gun. i have to say: this tool rocks. with the nailing gun it’s very easy to fix the battens and in summary you are very fast working. here are some pics of the attika and the battens work.

Day #70: Ending Chimney Isolation & More Attika Work

Tiistaina 24. marraskuuta 2009 · Marius

terve, first i went to a local store to pick up another example tiling in a more light grey. here i also purchased a protection fence for the ventilation tubes of chimney so that wasps have no chance to move in this winter. when i arrived at the site the roofer arrived to do some more work at the attika. i have done some pictures i got to upload tomorrow as i forgot my iphone for the first time somewhere else i just noticed. *bummer* but i can already tell you: it looks quite cool in black. i spend the afternoon finishing the isolation around the chimney. i placed the tubes properly. all in all this was a bid tricky work, as there had been many small places in need to put in the isolation. anyhow… so far main living room isolation is finished now. pics will follow as soon i get my iphone back.

Day #68: Painting Of Corner Bars & Chimney Isolation

Sunnuntaina 22. marraskuuta 2009 · Marius

terve, i used this day to paint the new corner bars so that i can get rid of the framwork around the plusvilla. of course this was again a job for TIKKURILA VALTTI BASE and AKVACOLOR. during the paint was drying i did the isolation below the chimney. here i first placed the 160 mm STEICO canaflex followed by the ventilation tube. today’s picture shows you the corner bars before they got painted.

Day #67: Off-Day In Hamburg At Finnish Christmas Market

Sunnuntaina 22. marraskuuta 2009 · Marius

terve, today we had been off to hamburg to visit the christmas market of finland, sweden, norway and denmark. to be honest: finnish market had been the biggest and the one with the best offering of authentic traditional finnish goods.

extra for HONKATALOT construction head, we took a photo of the legendary erbsensuppe which he preferred with a lot of mustard. steffi also found out that her boots she bought a while ago off ebay brand new had been a steal. as you can see on the pic, there had been plenty off cool christmas stuff. the danish folks did also have spacy design lamps in their house (no, not the ship). by the afternoon we stopped by the BULLEREI, which is the restaurant of popular tv-known hamburg cook tim mälzer. he once learned at jamie oliver and adopted his chaos cooking to germany. luckily he suddenly also walked into the opend kitchen and walked by our table. steffi managed to get a signature for her mum, which was with us (but too shy to ask!). tim had been very nice and polite and brought some new flavour into steffi’s mums kitchen by that. our day ended - you might assume it - as usual in the local IITTALA store. here we accidentially met my parents with their friends.they had teema in white for 20% off. we left the shop with two big baskets.

parallel jochen and mr. kaiser of KAMIN DEELE did move our chimney slightly so that we can install the isolation below it as well as the ventilation tubes.
